    Tesco promotes SMS acquisition for Clubcard

      From last week, we are excited to see that ​Tesco Clubcard are now promoting the text-in service for Clubcard on till receipts across its entire estate of over 2,300 branded stores: Tesco Extra, Superstore, Metro, Express.

      As you can see from the image, every till receipt has a simple call to action (Sign up to Clubcard) after the transaction total summary. With a very simple mechanic involved, customers simply need to send the keyword JOIN to the Tesco shortcode phone number 84420.

      A few seconds later, they receive a text message back that invites new customers to join up to clubcard and to download the Clubcard app on their phone. A link in the message takes them to a mobile landing page with two options presented:
      1) click to join the scheme. Upon tapping the button, the customer opens up the Clubcard form that they have to fill in on Tesco's mobile website.
      2) Click to download the app for their phone. Upon tapping this link, the customer is directed to the relevant app store for their phone (using Incentivated's API to detect the phone's OS and therefore autmatically re-direct to the correct URL).

      Tesco Clubcard is the highly successful loyalty card scheme which provides members with 1 point per £1 spent in-store. Collected points are redeemable against either in-store purchases or against purchases with an ever-increasing number of commercial partners. Launched in 1994, there are now well over 15 million active Clubcard members in the UK.
